Okay, so I know I'm a little late with this, but better late than never ...
Am I sad to see Shea go? Uh, no. Even the most loyal, diehard Mets fan will tell you the place was a dump. However, I am sad to see the name go with the building. I understand naming rights are big business, but these corporate names are leaving the newer ballparks with an identity crisis. (Especially since the names seem to change more often than Oprah's waistline!)
Growing up, I knew the name of every ballpark in the bigs. Now? I have no idea how many times I've called a stadium its name ... from 10 years ago.
So farewell, Shea. It was nice KNOWING you.
FORMAT UPDATE
Kids, here's the deal. For the latest news from your favorite New York (and Jersey) sports sources, check out the RSS feeds and links on the right side of the page. I will update the section below with "bonus" coverage, consisting mostly of NY-related sports video.
So, read on the right and watch on the left. Enjoy!
